296 PLAQUE FOR HORSE TRAPPINGS, CRAIOVA TREASURE, ROMANIA

First half of fourth century B.C. Silver, length 6 cm. Archaeological Museum, Bucharest.

In the form of a bull's head in full profile. A semi-circle of incised lines indicates the beginning of the mane behind the cheek. Three borders above the forehead, ending in a spiral, indicate the beginning of the mane and the horns. A border of dots along the nose and the lower part of the jowl indicates the warts on the bull's head. A flat ring for a strap at the back.
